Every 7 days · about once a week
Water the soil
Pour water slowly onto the soil around the base, not over the leaves, until it runs out of the drainage holes. Empty the saucer after 15 minutes.

Questions we get asked
How do I know when my plant needs water?
Push a finger into the soil. Most tropical plants want water when the top 1 to 2 inches are dry. Succulents, snake plants and ZZ plants should dry out completely first.
Where should I water a plant?
Most plants are watered at the soil, not the leaves. Bromeliads drink from the cup in their center, orchids are soaked in their bark, African violets drink from a saucer, and air plants are dunked whole.
Should I water less in winter?
Yes. Most indoor plants grow slowly in winter, so they need water about a third to half as often, even with the heat on.
